Technical Information

Sizes
We make all our splashbacks individually to order for each customer. This means that there are no standard sizes, and the splashback will be made to fit your requirements perfectly. We can produce your splashback in any size up to a maximum of 2.4m x 1.2m per piece, with any dimensions in between these possible.

Cut-outs
We strongly recommend that you do not attempt to cut the glass yourself; we can arrange for the glass to be professionally water-jet cut to accommodate electrical sockets, taps, and curved extractor hoods. Please see our price list for the charge details.

Fixing
We advise that a strong, flexible silicon adhesive is used and can recommend a widely available, tried and tested brand.

We recommend that you use either a qualified tile fitter (see the Tile Association website www.tiles.org.uk), or take advantage of our personal installation service – the charge for this depends on location; please contact us for a quotation

Situation
As there are currently no British Standards for glass ‘splashbacks’, we have had ours independently tested for ‘fitness for purpose’ by British Glass – a renowned centre of technical excellence. Our glass is considered suitable for use as splashbacks so long as direct contact with high heat is avoided. Our splashbacks are ideally suited to kitchen designs where the hob is set into the worksurface, with a distance of around 10cm between the back of the hob and the wall. Many customers also incorporate an ‘upstand’ in the same material as the worktop, on which the splashback can rest.

Thickness
Our tiles and splashbacks vary in thickness according to the design. Some designs, such as the Stripe and Retro series are flat and have a thickness of approximately 9mm. Designs such as the Colonsay and Lazio series have an undulating surface, and the thickness varies from approximately 9mm up to 14mm.

Cleaning
Our glass is easy to keep clean with simply warm water, washing up liquid and a soft sponge. Finish by polishing with a soft, dry cloth. Abrasive materials and boiling hot water should not be used.

Colours
The colours of our products shown on this website have been reproduced as accurately as possible; however we suggest you ask about sample arrangements if you are seeking to match a very specific shade. Please also note that due to the handmade nature of our products it is not possible for every tile or splashback to be identical, and very small variances from the design images shown may sometimes occur.
